When I wrote my book, Sarden's Practical Guide: How to Start Homeschooling, I intentionally named it a "practical" guide because I wanted families to have a short, easy to use resource that was free from theory. I don't know about you, but when it comes to something I have no clue about, I just want someone to tell me what to do and how to do it - they can save their theory for later!
As an extension of my goal of helping families figure it all out, I have developed the accompanying workbook. In it, you'll find helpful checklists, exercises and, of course, more practical advice on how to get started.
I wrote the workbook specifically for families with school aged children because I know that these families have entirely different concerns and requirements than people who are planning to homeschool very young children. It's one thing to decide to homeschool a 5 year old who hasn't yet reached compulsory school age. It's an altogether different discussion when you're pulling an 8th grader or high schooler out of school and having to plan around graduation requirements and college prep. And, as the mother of an upper elementary student and middle schooler, I know first hand the worries of the parent with older kids.
If you're thinking about removing your child from school or you've recently done so, this workbook will walk you through everything you need to know in order to get started. And remember, you don't have to know everything up front but there are a few things that you must get right in order to set yourself up for success early on.
The workbook contains 6 modules that cover:
Our workbook will allow you to show any naysayers that you have completely and fully thought through your decision to homeschool. Take time to think through and complete the thought exercises, checklists and planning exercises and show that still unconvinced spouse or opinionated Auntie that you know what you're doing!
The best thing about this workbook is that it comes with the community support found in our Facebook group, How to Homeschool. There you can ask questions live, attend live trainings and start interacting with other homeschooling families just like yours.
